I wandered back to my hostel, called Leanne about 30mins later to make sure she was awake (and didn't miss her stop) and then proceeded to crash out til the afternoon...

... street and a building next to it, that we couldn't find our way in - but we could hear the sounds of drumming circle coming from within it's grounds...

An early morning breakfast - whilst the locals were still finishing their beers from the night before (or perhaps just the first of the day!!) and we loitered around the bus stop at 8am on a sunday morning waiting for the first bus out of town...

In Lipice we go to see very famous Lipican horses. Ok, here is what we remember from the guided tour: the stables were founded in 1850 by the local archbishop, at the moment they have 400 horses which got their for from having crossed small cart horses and other kinds from Czech Republic, Austria, etc.; the majority of horses is white (all are born dark - black, brown, grey - but after 2-3 years they all become white), they have just one horse which stayed ...

Then we ended back at Vesna's brother-in-law's place for tea. Ilija. Really friendly bloke. Trouble is I still had another tea appointment at Marko's sister's. But it was still early so I managed to fit both in.

... not, I'd be pretty embarrassed there having to use Croatian all the time and not knowing any Slovenian...



This is the actual house where Tito was born... apparently. The whole village has been bought up and it's now a museum village. Normally there is an entrance fee to go into the village but as luck would have it the day we were there it was free.

I suppose nowadays the name Tito ...

So although I didn't get to stop in Bled, I saw it on my round-the-country train trip, along with some great view of the Julian Alps.  Had a lovely chat with Law student for 30 mins while we waited for the overdue train in Ljubliana. 

... the road was going to up like this for so we saw a break in the road and aborted our mission!! We turned around and went back down and then we had to through the Italian part of the Alps to get back to Slovenia. These roads were very steep but not 18% thank God, but what they lacked in steepness they made up for in narrowness and winds. So this wasn't the most relaxing drive I tell you what, I actually had to have a few sneaky swigs out of our hazelnut ...
