... So, everything was unpacked and he was opened up again. It was determined that he had a hematoma (pool of blood) under his skin and he was still bleeding just from the nature of the massive surgery. It was a true team effort with about 15 people working on him in the OR. Dr. Gutek and two Romanian surgeons worked to cauterize his bleeding and the surgery lasted 4 hours from start to finish. We have nurses, respiratory therapists, journalists, a fire fighter, a photographer (and part time extreme sportswoman…) and other professional and technical people as well. We are from Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Washington DC, California and Canada.
