Mosaics and Lions in Delos

Delos is an incredibly interesting place. The entire island is a collection of ruins where no one is allowed to stay on the island overnight so everyone who visits are day trippers—most of whom are staying in Mykonos. It was an excellent day for exploring ruins at just over 60F degrees it was cool and pleasant. There is a lot to explore on the island so be sure to leave enough time to see it all.

There are no complete building standing, but ...

A few days in Mykonos

It’s a little cool outside for a party island that is famous for its nude beaches and all-night dance clubs. This is the first time that I wished we were visiting Greece during the tourist season since the town almost feels empty and the beaches deserted.

This is ...

My Big Fat Greek Visit !

... pool deck and enjoy the warmth and sun that Mykonos was offering. This was also the location of the Movie Under the Stars. And wouldn't you know it, the movie playing was "Mama Mia"! We felt like running to the edge and jumping overboard. Not like we don't like the movie. O.K.! We admit, we don't the like the movie! We were so grateful that we watched it for 'free' on satelite at our friend's Brenda-Lyn and ...

After eating we went back to the hotel and went swimming and than lying around the pool. We had a nice chat with a Swedish family (something which turned out to be a theme as there were tons of Swedish people that we ran into - it must be fairly easy to get to the islands from Sweden), Jen went ...

... and I just looked at each other and thought what is going on. It must be a Mediterranean thing but the Greeks are such hotheads. They lose their tempers at the slightest of things and then go into a rage about it. I found myself being physically drained while listening to them. When the ferry arrived all the cars, vans and motorbikes all started revving their engines and moving closer to a closed gate. A bottle neck developed resulting in complete chaos when the gate was ...

... at the port which had a huge balcony with an amazing view! We thought that since it was such a small island that this would be our chance to rent scooters and try them out without the stress of a lot of traffic... well we were denied again!! But this time I said 'okay, fine, how much to rent a car?' and the man told me and I said 'okay we will take a car then' and he looked at me with doubting eyes and said 'You... have ...

Relaxing in Naxos

... with him mom and they are adorable. I love them and their broken accents. George drives us through an adorable town to his studios, which is also, adorable. Each one is a whitewashed apartment with bright blue shutters and a cute balcony. George shows us to our room and gives us a welcome bottle of wine. As soon as he leaves I turn to Darren and ask, "Can we stay? PLEASE!" I loved it immediately and after 1 whole week, I still do. I love that it's low season and ...

Time For Some Relaxtion

Following a couple busy days in Athens I figured it was time to do a little R&R on one of the smaller Greek Islands so I headed off to Naxos. I booked a single room, did a lot of sleeping, saw a few beaches and that's about it for three days! Sorry there's not more to report.

Cruising the Greek Islands

How on Earth did I get to be so lucky?

My family and I went on a cruise of the Greek Islands. We ate a lot, got sea sick once, soaked up the sun, and absorbed the classically beautiful white and blue colours on the islands. There weren't very much ship activities that my sister and I were interested in but Allyson and I did win a bingo game! Mykonos was by far our favorite island because of its beauty.
