      ... we had a drink at the bar and took our laptop down there where it works a lot better!! Tonight we walked down to what seems like a local social club. It was full of Austrians and they seem to be enjoying themselves. The meal was okay – I had fish but as you can tell it wasn’t outstanding. Doesn’t matter. Back in the room for planning for tomorrow and it doesn’t seem that noisy after all thank goodness.

      ... our hotel in Salzburg. Oh. My. God. The building was an old converted residence that included amazing antiques, beautiful staircases and wonderful staff. Our room was simply perfect with an incredible view to the old town and the Fortress of Salzburg. In addition, the nearby church rang its bells every day starting at 7 and throughout the day until 8 or 9 at night. It could not have been any better.

      ... we couldn't see it that well because there were clouds covering the mountain tops on that side of the valley. But the view was still amazing. Because at the head of the valley was a smaller snow-covered mountain called Johanisberg. And descending from the mountain and into the valley was the largest glacier in the eastern Alps, the Pasterzengletscher. We later learned that the glacier has retreated 2 km in recent history, and is expected to be completely gone in 35 years ...
