Month 2 travel plans turned out quite differently than I originally anticipated. Before I departed I had no inention of heading to France, told myself I would visit another time. Well that thought was thrown completely out the window. I ended up spending a little over two weeks in France and enjoyed every moment. From the people I met, unique experiences and lessons learned, month 2 ended up being exactly what I needed. Let's find out what I've been up to...

... invigorated we want to check the David queue once more, just in case...YES! Much reduced, so we join queue, which feels like a torture for the tourists. Blazing sunshine..the sweat just drips off you & can't believe nobody faints! However after 45 mins we're in. Well worth returning too. To think David is 500 yrs old is astonishing...he is also so HUGE!

back to the farmhouse around 8 pm...lie-in tomorrow methinks...

After leaving Cortona we slipped briefly out of Tuscany to visit nearby Assisi in the province of Perugia. Resting place for St Francis it was sombre to visit his tomb under the church there, however the rest of the town has been transformed into a religious tourist destination. What said it all was the carousel outside one of the churches that was adorned with religious motifs...note the Francescan monks in the background. ...

... of the four saint-named quarters of the city climb their way up the side of a small mountain above which sits a small castle/fortress. In the centre, half way up and at the junction of the four quarters sits the very old and impressive Palazzo dei Consoli constructed in 12 hundred and something to form a centre to the city and today housing an interesting collection of historic art and ceramics, as well as some modern exhibitions. ... We went back down by the cable 'cage' as well.
We drove back home, getting more & more used to the windy road. We had time to catch up on a few things and I had a solid half hour sleep as well. Then we headed over at 8pm to the chapel for drinks and some great chats with the others. One young couple from Dubai had been on a truffle cooking tour & 'hunt' and it was interesting to hear about that.
