    ... on the canal path. It was all big! We passed through some really ancient farming communities along the River Saulx which is a fast flowing beautifully clean weedy river. This is where we sat and saw the biggest water rat ever along with a very old sedate trout! Great ride. I'm really going to miss this country's quite roads and little hamlets unspoilt by time.     There has been nothing remarkable about the countryside we have cycled through today - no huge mountains or dramatic limestone gorges but it has been just 'nice'. The roads we have been on for most of the day have taken us through a mix of woodland and farmland interspersed with pretty villages.Those same pleasantly undulating roads are in excellent condition and have, for the most part, been completely empty.
