Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

... On the way, we stopped and got some strawberry chocolate fondue because it was the Chocolate Festival that weekend in Bergamo. After 45 minutes another guest who had a key to the front door let us out - no our room key did not fit, we had all tried it and there was no button to push. We looked hard including removing the grill over the office window to see if we could find the key. ... It has a fascinating history having been destroyed 4 times, but contains some amazing artifacts and still has one room of the original Monastery which contains a miracle stone dating back to St. Benedict. If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop by. Due to lives of all the Polish soldiers who died in the Abby defending Italy during the war there is a beautiful monument and cemetery memorializing them on a hill across from Monte Cassino. Next stop Rome! Diane and ...
