      ... door of hotel being locked and our attempts to get attention were either not heard or ignored. After 45 minutes another guest who had a key to the front door let us out - no our room key did not fit, we had all tried it and there was no button to push. It has a fascinating history having been destroyed 4 times, but contains some amazing artifacts and still has one room of the original Monastery which contains a miracle stone dating back to St. Benedict. If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop by. Due to lives of all the Polish soldiers who died in the Abby defending Italy during the war there is a beautiful monument and cemetery memorializing them on a hill across from Monte Cassino.
