... a New Year's Eve in Venice....so I tagged along. It is incredible how long can it take for the time to come around and start your journey. And when you are there, the time flies! I can't wait to begin this year adventure, but until the time comes, I'll wait.
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland wpabon... the world. Some subjects were closer to home: the perils of driving in the snow during the Swiss winter, the relative merits of having one’s own fruit schnapps distilled, and the joys of gardening on which all my friends here agreed.
It was a wonderful meal and an exceptional evening. The Giauques having a two hour drive before them, left about 9:00 and that was the signal for others to begin leaving too. I will head to bed early again tonight.
... at the map, then turned around and realized, “Oh, there it is.” We had unintentionally timed it perfectly, ending up with some great photo ops of the stories-high famous fountain.
After our success there, we walked around the rest of Old Town: the cathedral, the city hall, the old armory with some fantastic mosaics on the walls, a restaurant that I’m 95% sure was just named “Carnivore,” and then we ended ...
... that sentiment were he to try a motorcycle, but having found myself negotiating downtown Paris (at one point I was surprised to see Moulin Rouge across the street) I can see the appeal. Something about the claustrophobia of being in a box that's too little for human occupancy but too big to negotiate the roads, compounded by the urgency of the ambient traffic, both motorized and pedestrian, who are going to tailgate and jaywalk under the assumption that OF ...

Aujord'hui je suis parti la ville. Je prendrai le train à mon prochain deux arrêts. Je suis triste partir cette belle ville, mais je très suis aussi excité à voir la prochaine ville dans mon voyage
... and our meetings were really interesting. My biggest pet peeve with Geneva is the traffic though!! Leaving the UN and making our way back to the hotel took almost an hour, whereas traveling to the UN only took about 10 minutes! Oh my goodness, it was ridiculous. Once we made it back though, we quickly changed and headed off for old town to eat Swiss cheese fondue!! Oh my goodness, it was wonderful! I have not ever ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland cali... lived? There was no alcohol service on board either - just a coke machine. After a short nap, Andy and I meet Keith, Lois and Doug for dinner. We wandered thru the red light district (only a couple blocks from our hotel) which was um...interesting. The other 2 hotels we could have booked - The Hotel Montana and Novotel - are right in the heart of the district. The red light area meant a lot of women wearing very tight tops, high heels and short skirts standing on the street ...
Geneva, Switzerland pathfinder35... Direct democracy and Federal parliamentary republic of the Swiss Confederation. There are three main governing bodies on the federal level:
* the bicameral parliament (legislative),
* the Federal Council (executive) and
* the Federal Court (judicial).
The Swiss Parliament consists of two houses: the Council of States which has 46 representatives (two from each canton and one from each half-canton) who are elected under a system determined by each ...
... arrival time. And the 16.00 leaves at 16.40 Is it a case of just me? Anyway, I quickly looked round Lausanne. There was a gospel show in full swing on the promenade. I listened to the speaker, who was a great orator. The ease at which he could whip the audience into such frenzy disturbs me somewhat. Preaching messages of love and forgiveness to cries of "Praise the Lord" and "Jesus loves you", is a ...
