... It serves a traditional famous Schlosswirtschaft Schattenburg it's a Foot long Weiner Schnitzel. Served with a pickled salad or fries. Chase was up for the challenge being the meat eater he is and as you can see didn't quite get there but gave it an impressive go. It was a great setting in traditional surrounds. A very busy place and it seems that's what people like about the place. A great finish to our first day in ...

I barely notice when I crossed my 4th Alpine pass this time. This pass was still below the treeline, and surrounded by families out for a stroll, it didn't feel like a rugged conquest, as the crossing of Splugenpass from Italy to Switzerland did. Soon the valley flattens out a little and there's ...

... give a view of the gorge far, far below. The main gorge actually continues south into Switzerland. This road is climbing up the wall of a smaller gorge up over the pass to Italy. Finally, after one last tunnel, I pop out in a shallow narrow valley witha stream running next to it. Looks like I'm safe. There's a somewhat modern stone fortress pressed right against the cliff, guarding the way... and then... the grassy fields begin once again. I've ...
