Dortmund, Germany jerrytrip... pretty tough for everyone, especially yesterday. I have said goodbye to all of my friends. Tara has left for her host family, Santiago has left to his host family, Trevor went to visit his fiance and son before flying home today. I think that Rafael from Chile might still be around but he is travelling around seeing Karneval all weekend in Düsseldorf and Köln.
I went on Thursday ...
... It'll cost a fair bit, but at least then I will have everything at home (I can't pay the excess baggage fee at the airport! It's absolutely insane!!!)
And so I will leave u for another day. If I have time to tell u about my other adventures before I come home I shall. If not I will give u an outline of what my week holds:
Tonight I am going to see the opera 'Don Giovanni'
Tomorrow we have our last official classes at uni and we have bought a bracelet to ...
... at buying some warm boots. And I might be able to fulfil Michael's wish of building a snowman after all.
A couple of my classmates are going to Neuschwanstein this weekend (It'll look amazing with the snow I am sure), and most people are going to Amsterdam. (It's only 2 hours away.) I would have been happy to go to either place, but I have worked out my own independent itinerary because of the fact that I have to go to Lauterbach on Friday ...
... 10 to 5. After that I had some salad, read a bit of my german book, worked on Imperfect verbs and then went to bed.
When I woke up it was today. The annoying thing about today is that because of the storm Thurs, we were sent home early, which means that all of my Literature classes go for 2 hours now, instead of 1.5. And they were the most boring ones!!!
That is all that I have to say about the past and present. Now to the ...
... and see saws and Jair took photos with his camera. When I get a copy of them I will post them.
In Düsseldorf there was an Opera shop so we went in there to buy our tickets for La Boheme. There were only 3 left. 3 of us wanted to go. It was perfect. And so cheap! They really look after students here and give them fantastic discounts!
After that I tried my first ever taste of Häagen Daas Icecream which is supposed to be the best in the ...
... because of the trains. We went to Mayersche a giant bookstore in the Centre of Essen for a bit of cheering up. I found some wonderful books that I can use for my teaching in Australia, as well as a really cheap trashy teen fiction written in German that I am reading at the moment and understanding most of it.
When I got back to the hotel we made dinner and then got ready to go out to the Delta Diskothek. It's a giant disco that has ...
Hi guys,
Don"t know if u have heard or not, but Germany is in the middle of a hurricane. 150km winds and severe warnings from the government to stay indoors. It was supposed to hit Essen really hard and we were all sent home from uni early and told to stay indoors. I really wanted to go online today to talk to u all like I said I would. Sorry guys!! I"ve just borrowed Tara"s laptop now. Mum, if u read this, send me a text message when u wake up so I can ...
... be a really famous actor is taken out of a concentration camp to tutor him and help him prepare. Hitler is a bumbling idiot and the Professor acts almost like a psychiatrist, revealing that Hitler has 'father' issues and that is why he did everything, to make his dad happy. He would have preferred to just send all of the jews to somewhere like madagascar... Anyways, the Professor makes him to heaps of humiliating things, like ...
Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany sarah.... drinks, much to my pleasure, but I didn't get drunk, as I never do... U all know that I am far too sensible (Mum and Aunty Lorraine smile approvingly). The Argentinians spoke with the DJ and got him to play some Latino music, but most was dance. I got a free Southern Comfort lighter, not that I will ever use it to light up a cigarrette ( I don't even know how to spell it!) I walked Trevor home because he had been drinking straight Jack Daniels shots and went to bed at 2.30 which was ...
