... almost no one ventured all the way up to Philosophenweg. I fully appreciated the "scenic" spots with benches along the way, welcome spots to breathe and take out the water bottle. Students and philosophers used to walk up that way to clear their heads. ... ourselves a little parking ticket for forgetting to put money in the meter. Luckily we have no idea how to pay it and well we "lost the ticket" so oops!

We got a nice little hotel in Frankenthal which was a little over budget but luckily had a kitchenette in it so it saved us money on food. That night we dined on stir fry and Chris made a great bacon and eggs breakfast in the morning. Worth it!

Then it was off to see my Mum in Mainz! Yay!

... the city, its adorable beer taverns, and its gorgeous architecture. But I didn't love it, and I can't quite figure out why. Perhaps I was expecting more, due to the fact that every Germany guidebook touts it as a perfect German fairytale city. But it's also a college town and an industrial town, and the legendary "nightlife" I heard so much about wrapped up at about 10pm. But nonetheless, it's a stunning ...

sorry it has been so long since we have been on and updated. Payton is doing GREAT. had an unhealthy 2 weeks but all better. She had thrush which is so hard to get rid of, then another cold and ear aches. but she is all better. she weighs about 16 to 17 lbs now and is about 23 1/2 to 24 inches long. she is really starting to coo now and its so cute. she is trying to sit up on her own. we almost have a sleep pattern down :) which im super excited abou

Finally, internet access where a timer isn't going to shut me down in 10 minutes. Ahh, technology.

So let me start by recognizing 3 groups that have made some interesting hassles on this trip:
1) Iceland Air. I appreciate their taking the reasonable stance that a 10-hour trans-Atlantic flight is indeed not far enough to bother feeding its passengers. I mean really, you can eat when you land in Germany after 15 hours, whiner.

Its kind of weird updating the blog on my own! I feel like I'm talking to myself!

So I arrived here in Heidelberg Tuesday afternoon. I must say that I am quite proud of myself for getting here on my own! Back in Paris I had to walk to the metro station all by myself at 630am. It was dark and cold. To top it off it was pouring rain and I got soaked. Then when I got to the train station my bag broke (I was carrying a huge paperbag ...

... und die Geduld, um mir Teilzeittourist ihre Heimatstadt zu zeigen. Total überwältig war ich allerdings am Wartberg, als wir die abendliche Aussicht über Heilbronn genießen konnten. Nach der hochinteressanten abendlichen Stadtrundfahrt gab es für mich einen Gaumenschmaus mit traditionellen schwäbsichen Spezialitäten. Und eines habe ich an diesem Abend hinzugelernt: Spätzle schmecken nirgendwo besser als im Schwoobeländle, heiligs Blechle.
