... Nice town but not as good as the others. I've got about a million photos of the day. Unfortunately it's quite hazy so they won't show how beautiful this region is. Finally I go back to Varenna. This (for me) is definitely the best town. It's smaller and I love it. My BnB is in the square but the top floor balcony has beautiful views over the lake. I'm tired so have an early night. Just snack on ...

... OMG! This is such an impossibly beautiful place. There is a photo op every second. The lake is gorgeous and the mountains are behind it. I'm so glad I came up here. I've pretty much been everywhere in Italy now that I wanted to go. For dinner I had sliced chicken fillet with a Parmesan cheese sauce with a "hint" of truffle and vegies plus the obligatory wine! I couldn't taste the truffle but it was so nice to have some decent meat. Very nice restaurant ...

Back to the ferry and then back to Bellagio for a lovely dinner made up of sensational pork sausages, meats, olive and cheese from the little deli at the end of our lane way.

Our final day in Bellagio was a chance to really potter around a bit like the locals. A slow start ...

... opportunity before jumping back into the car.
We were now heading for Italy and craving for the great coffee at Cafe Sport. The GPS directed us to Varenna and the car ferry. We were hoping like mad that the ferries were in operation. Phew, we only had to wait 20 minutes and a 10 minute ferry trip later we were in Bellagio.
We found our accommodation at Bellagio apartments and meet our host Giulio who was so lovely. He runs a small bar and restaurant close by and as ...

... did not pry into the circumstances. You never know these days.

The monastery is dedicated to the Madonna del Sasso, meaning rock, since it is situated high upon a rocky, wooded crag. The Monastery was consecrated in 1487, some years after a monk had been visited up here by the Virgin Mary.
There is a wide and spacious terrace in front of the monastic church, affording sensational views across the lake and down to the town. It is nice to gaze upon Locarno, ...
