31/10/12: I arrived back in Lima on Thursday at about midday. Priority 1 was to clean my very stinky clothes. I walked about 20 minutes to find a lavanderia (laundromat) that was able to do my clothes in a day. I then walked to Larcomar and booked a sightseeing tour bus for the afternoon to better orientate myself (day 1 and 2 had not been very successful) and figure out what to do on Friday. The bus was overpriced and a bit pointless. But it was successful ...

... seems to be alot of palm trees, nice hotels, casinos, and basically a really nice rich area. we found a little complex on the sea front full of designer shops and resturants and the most amazing ice cream place EVER!!! and they were HUGE scoops, of course we had to try it : ) We then had a wander back along the front then back to the hostel. Not much else to tell really folks sorry ...

... was twisty and spent much of its time running up and down
mountains. So we stopped off about halfway in a nice quiet village and parked
ourselves on the grassy site of a small restaurant where in season river
rafting trips were organized. Next day we were back on the road climbing for
ever higher as we negotiated the last of the mountain ranges that parallel the

... of the descriptions were in rough English, so that helped a little bit. No photography is allowed inside. Highlights included:
- Pigeons completely owning the square.
- The very old 17th century library filled with many leather bound books, parchments and antique winding wooden staircases. Not sure if they smelled of rich mahogany likes those of Ron Burgundy though.
- The underground catacombs with heaps and heaps of skulls, femurs and ...

... Lima just feels like a big dirty city, and isn't overly exciting. There are a few things to do outside of the city, but we weren't terribly interested, and it was good to have the last day there to just do nothing - nothing except finally get the beard shaved off. It cost 20 Soles, and was worth the money. It was strange to begin with, and I had to do a double take in the mirror later on that night, but I can safely say it won't be coming back again any time soon.
