... down went flying to the back of the train.
we made our way up this rather steep mountain the Matterhorn was playing hide
& seek with us. Cameras were out the windows trying to get the best shots
and folk were just going mad.
of course was doing the same but then I thought I might as well sit and relax
as I will get loads of shots from the summit station!!! Big mistake, and how
wrong I was.

... the railway there came a train. No ways was I heading back up that pass for a photo in these freezing conditions.
Onwards I headed towards my destination of Zermatt. The weather was improving as I went and soon the sun was shining and the temp was above 10 Celsius.
This road i was travelling was rather busy and not that scenic either. It went through a number of nice towns with lovely churches and typical Swiss houses etc. but not many mountains.

The next morning dawned overcast, a good day to explore the town, museum and interesting cemetery where lots of climbers who met their deaths on the Matterhorn and other local mountains are buried. The museum in Zermatt is underground; a well-done little museum with lots of history about the climbing of THE mountain, and a new exhibit this year about the first ascent of the Matterhorn, ...
... the vans and drove to a train station where the vans were driven (with us inside) onto a car train ferry which travelled through a mountain to Tasch where we unloaded the vans, left them in a parking area and caught a train to Zermatt. Here a hotel porter stashed the bags into an electric car and we were able to walk to the hotel unencumbered to arrive at our incredible accommodation used by Captain's Choice Tours. ... more like scooting along.) After this amazing experience, we went into the mountain top cafe. the ladies had hot cocoa and the guys had bier. Karen took out a bag of trail mix from her backpack and it was inflated like a balloon due to the decrease in atmospheric pressure! We traveled back down the mountain and got off at the Furi gondola haus and walked down a trail back into Zermatt. It took over an hour. We saw a large variety of flowers along ...
