The Dancing House

... it lurches dynamically over the street yet pays homage to its older neighbors with articulated windows.

At the time of its construction it was quite controversial among most residents, but is now recognized for the landmark it has become. Take the elevator to the observation deck level, step onto the mirrored floor as you take in the expansive view, and you'll feel like dancing too.

Prague - Day 3, Saturday

... reached the square and bought tickets for two concerts at St Michael's Church. After having a quick meal we enjoyed the first one, which was Cabaret style with songs from popular shows, Cats, Evita etc. but it was not to be compared with the second concert. This was a string quartet with a wonderful soprano. Unfortunately someone in the audience collapsed after the first two items and the performance stopped while we ...

... the tours were:
Luke - the history of the Prague uprising at the end of WW2 and takeover by Russia.
Aidan - acting as the thief in the re-enactment of the story of the thief who tried to steal the jewelled necklace from a statue of Mary and a miracle occurred and the statue grabbed his arm. His arm had to be cut off by the priest to free him and the petrified arm is still dangling from the ceiling of the church as a deterrent to ...

Our plans for to join the free tour was quickly dashed when we stepped outside and it was over 30degrees today. We wanted to make a quick trip to the John Lennon wall but had to keep making quick breaks to cool off and also for lunch. We lunched on the other side of the bridges in a park before off on a trek in the scorching weather. During the hunt for JL wall, the churches were our favourites. Something pretty ...

Too Much To Do, Too Little Time

After an undisturbed solid 6 hours of sleep it was time to once again take advantage of another beautiful day. At 11 am we had scheduled a free walking tour with a company called Prague Extravaganza. We meet the leader Karla at Old Town Square. The tour would provide insight into all the highlights of Old Town Square, The Jewish Quarter, and Charles Bridge. After about two hours we parted ways as she was continuing to The Lesser Quarter and Prague Castle, which ...

Great little hotel for old and new towns

Fabulous little hotel right on the edge of the old and new towns. Great location is a 10 min walk to the main square and about 7-8 mins from Wenceslas Square.
Hotel itself is a very modern interior for an old building. Beds very comfortable (though pillows quite soft) and the location is very quiet at night.
Breakfast is very good - wide selection of foods served from 7am.
Hotel fitness centre is small and with limited equipment, but enough to raise a sweat, which is all you really need.
Overall, a very good hotel and one which we'd recommend.
