Having discovered we could not sensibly drive across the country to join the jungle train we decided to fly, and left Georgetown after a great day and some good experiences.

We had a leisurely flight to Kota Bharu leaving at 1.30 in the afternoon, but were a bit nervous as it is a strictly Islamic state and we did not know how we should be …

... set up our kit and do our usual dive briefing. Then it's out to our third training dive at Batu Layar. We learn to do our James Bond style back roll entry off the boat which looks much more impressive than kitting up in the water. It's bloody awkward trying to read your book when you are lieing flat on your back, and I have no upper body strength, I get achey arms, and then I need an ice cream, so Nath did something I ...

... and we were expecting no A/C and wooden benches like we got from Bangkok to Ayutthaya. I had read mixed responses about the Jungle Train, some said it was nothing like it once was as a lot of the jungle was torn down along the railway and in its place are now Palm plantations but I thought as we needed to travel exactly where the train line went it was a bit of a change than being stuck in a mini bus for a whole day. On the way we saw a mix of Palm Trees, Jungle, ...
