Although we weren't moving on today we were driving so we had to pack everything up this morning as well as other fun stuff like doing the washing. We were planning to catch a ride on a steam train up a mountain called Brocken which is the highest mountain in the north of Germany (I think) and is significant because it was part of the border between East and West Germany and there was a base up there that the East Germans used ...

The center of town is less than a 15 minute walk from my apartment. There weren’t a lot of shops along the route that I took on this journey, but when I reached the Markt it had the typical allure of other German towns with their old architecture. I also went to the tourist information office to pick up some brochures ...

This morning we spent our time round this beautiful little town. We went for an early walk before breakfast, then back to our room for a shower and to pack our bags, before going downstairs for a typical European Guesthouse breakfast. Fresh fruit, meat and cheese, hardboiled eggs and lovely fresh rolls and bread, tea and coffee. We chatted to a couple of German guys who were going to hike round the area today. Lucky them to have the time to that, it would be ...
