... no kitchen issue with this hostel is costing me a fortune. I also got to listen to some excellent street musicians. There was the guy on the bagpipes (dressed for the part), the two young guys on the guitar and cello playing great songs and the solo violinist. What I have found is that the Danish aren't particlarly nice, if you ask them something you might just get your head bitten off. Today however, I found that many of the students are very nice though.
The weekend has been so relaxing! It's my first time to go to a Spa-hotel and I thought it was liberating to be able to go around wearing robes ;) massage, gym, sauna+freezing cold ocean+hot tub, swimming pool and the food was delish... I really have no complains at all!
... and we started talking. He bought me a couple of cups of tea and he told me that he owned a toy/herb/esoteric book store in a touristy/castle section of Germany. He was 38 and opened the store when he was 18.... and by the sounds of it made a nice amount of money until the German government started making a lot of the natural herbs and flowers "medicines" and therefore illegal to sell in stores. Point was, we had the most phenomenal conversation about travel, religion, karma ...
Helsingør, Denmark reneedmVisited Kronborg castle in Helsingor. Blown away by the conditions the soldiers had to put up with. Also saw a statue of "Ogier the Dane" down in the depths of the castle. The legend goes that he is sleeping down there and will come up to protect Denmark in times of national crisis. Same theme as King Arthur with England. Awesome statue though.
Helsingor, Capital Region, Denmark danandroz... hasn't been to great the last few weeks. The shop closes for the year at the end of the month and then I am back to being unemployed. The ski season is approaching and the US government is feeling particularly nasty this year with regards to visas. Helena's visa for Aspen has been denied and I haven't yet received mine. It is the same ol game of wait and see, this year though, we are all ...
Ängelholm, Sweden cpiotto29-May Denmark (Helsingør & Hillerød) Today we switched hotels. The new one is nice and not far away from the train station. It is not the Radisson however it will work for a couple of nights. We decided today to go see "Hamlet's castle" in Helsingør which is a hour's train ride north of Copenhagen. The real name of the castle is Kronborg and it was a fortress for ...
Copenhagen, Helsingør, Hillerød, Denmark jel2862I was debating whether or not to make an entry for this trip. We went to Malmo becuase it's the closest sizeable Swedish city to Lund. As we found out, there's not that much to do there, but it was worth one day-trip I guess. We saw the "Turning Torso" building that Malmo is so proud of, walked around the city in freezing cold, and saw the castle.
Malmö, Sweden bpburns64... out a man who let vehicles of sundry kinds, and who spoke fair English. I read the glance of this individual as he cautiously surveyed us, may be allowed to interpret it thus: - "Well - here's a German Jew and an English Quaker, and if I can't make a few dollars out of the pair of them it's a pity! It isn't every day I get such a chance as this, and it isn't to be let slip! " Of course he didn't say this; but he did ask us one hundred and twenty to take us to Gothenburg! "A ...
Helsinborg, Sweden travellerbruce... Lund and we went inside a really huge cathedral and did some window shopping down the many pedestrian streets of Lund. For dinner everyone in Vera's Rez had a BBQ and we ate hot dogs and hamburgers. Tomorrow I will be taking the long train trip up north to Stokholm to fly back to Scotland. It should be a really long day but it will give me a chance to finish my book. Cheers
Lund, Sweden jforrest... rip offs, as you would be. Using the negotiation skills I have picked up over the years, i.e. breath alcohol in his face, we got a cheap price. ******, the room seemed bigger and that is all I remember Friday Tadek was screaming for me to get up. I awoke with a sore head, and stumbled out. Problem was, that another David, who was the best man, was staying in the same place and it was him who was needed. Now Lucy and I have not really been drinking, and we ...
