Rodovia BA 099 Km 76 Linha Verde Costa Do Sauipe, State of Bahia, Brazil, 4820 8000, 464-2225
2 hours north of Salvador by bus. 30 minutes walk from where bus drops off to village and beach. Beautiful wild stretch of beach. Walk for miles north without a soul. Pousada in the dunes with swimming pool (with a view!) Interesting `sweet´ water ...
Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil aandl... blue surrounding the large freighters to warm baby blue as it met the golden sands of the most famous beaches in the world and covered them in white waves that gently lapped the shore. Then, as if growing from the ocean floor itself emerged the biggest, barest, bluest mountain range I had ever seen! For miles and miles giant peaks of slate blue jutted up and out of nowhere and pierced the morning sky, ripping through the low lying clouds and completed the picture of the best ...
Praia do Forte, State of Bahia, Brazil mrsplaying_dead... girls in full party gear included) and it was much less crowded - double yay - but the best thing was a very cute boy that could dance that stayed within about 5m of me. We danced apart, yet together, until the beach turned into headland at which point I turned around and he´d headed home. Now I´m not normally a stalker but.... I followed... at a safe distance of about 50m (what can I say? I love to watch a man that can dance). When I finally lost him, I stopped and rejoined ...
Guarajuba, Brazil renard... least we have got one of the island´s 6 days of sunshine this month! The island is kind of freaking me out, I´m not sure if it´s because I have´t been anywhere touristy like this in a while but it seems really artificial, it´s lovely but it doesn´t seem real you know? Our hostel is gorgeous, really beachy and budget for the island - Pousada Genova, chilled characters that run it, great b/fast. And the best bit, when you have breakfasty you ...
Morro De Saó Paulo, Ilha de Tinhare, Brazil jillsy... all the turtles come to this beach to lay their eggs. I think we´re just a few weeks too early for this - bugger! The beach is beautiful - has a reef (which I´m also going to give part blame to for our burns!) which is home to loads of funky colourful fish and the sand is white and there is an endless line of palm trees - paradiso! Today we´re much better and looking forward to moving further up north to some even more beautiful places!
Praia do Forte, Brazil donne_0... was tossed between the Dutch and British rulers, and how the inhabitants lived out their lives in the various industries of Flax, Dairy farms, and more recently coffee. The island is presently only accessible by either ship or yacht, but during our stay plans for an airport was being passed around and a test run to see if it was possible was demonstrated. So it might be on its way... We spent three weeks indulging in the many delights of this island, coastal walks to the ...
Salvador, Brazil sparrow07Our first day in Salvador we head down to Pelhourinho to buy our Abada - (t-shirts which are used in place of a ticket to the particular Bloco - (section and band you pay to see) That night we are told to sleep before dinner and have energetic foods, we wonder why??? Arrive at our area around 8pm. Millions of people around...lots of small stalls selling cocktails lining the streets, with the smell of barbecued meat sticks filling the air. 10 minutes ...
Salvador, Brazil cosbo... 20 "blocos" (these bands on trucks, surrounded by paying fans inside a rope) each night for 6 nights, with the circuit taking the blocos around 6 or 7 hours to complete. The circuits are overlooked by "camarotes" - small bar/clubs on balconies where you also have to pay to get in. It´s a massive week for tourism and everyone wants a piece of the action - the blocos and camarotes can cost between 50 and 300 reals (A$30-200) for entry, there are street vendors EVERYWHERE, kids and ...
Salvador, Brazil tcorrea... somehow maneuvered through the packed streets never, at least not that I saw, running over any inebriated bystanders! At around 3:30am, A sort of Brasilian boy band, think Back Street Boys gone even cheesier, appeared from atop one of the trucks and I swear you would have thought the Beatles or Elvis had just made a comeback appearance! Every girl, young and old screamed with such valor that my already ...
