Cruise Phase 1
... to eat or drink! There are over 700 staff on board from many different nations. Their service and attention to our needs is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble.
To date, five days into the cruise we have visited Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu and Monemvasia. The schedule is good. We sail overnight and spend the entire day in port. Monemvasia has been the most impressive, very similar to Mont Saint Michel in France. Unfortunately there have been other cruise ships in ...
Arrived in Heraklion
... feels like a small town, with a few cafe' and bars along the "high street" which leads you to the harbour where a pretty Venetian fortress stands tall and strong. We take a gentle stroll and a few pictures of the scenery before we sit down for an aperitif (non-alcoholic for me, boooo) and a lovely lunch underneath a tree, right in the middle of a small square just off the high street. Its a hot day here in Santorini but WOW the cliffs are huge ...
Goodbye Crete
... it better not sink!!! We check out and we drive to Heraklion port which only took about 15 minutes. We leave the car in the port carpark unlocked with the keys under the drivers mat, well that is what the car hire company told us to. Goodbye car and we jump on our Hellenic Seaways Vodafone Seacat ferry to Mykonos (via Santorini and Paros).
Note for self: If return do not spend a lot of time in Heraklion, not overally attractive place.
