My last stop in Greece
Today we stopped in Kavalla, which is a nice seaside town about halfway between Meteora and Galipolli, our next stop. It was 39 degrees here! The main thing to see is the Old Town, which is up on a hill and has a small castle at the top. It was a hot walk, but worth it for the views. I also bought a little blue over-the-should fake Marc Jacobs bag to use during the day.

It stormed and poured most of the way into Kavala. By the time we reached there we had left the storm behind us and we were welcomed by blue skies and sunshine - but only for a few hours before the weather caught up with us.

Kavala'da öğlen yemeği
Kavala'ya yaklaşırken dağların yola bakan yamaçlarında birçok mermer ocağı ve yolun iki yanında mermer işleme atölyeleri gördük. Daha sonra Kavala'da denize giren kayaların da mermer, aslında belki de tüm Kavala'nın mermer kayası üzerine kurulduğunu fark ettik. Kaldırımlar, sokak bordür taşları mermerden yapılmıştı ...

I decide to head for the coast because thats where there is likely to be camping even though I easily find the motorway which goes directly to the destination port inThesaloniki. "No", I tell myself, "I need to rest rather than stretch my energy that extra two hours". Oh folly!
I follow signs for the ferry to Thassos which is an island near the coast, enter the small seaside town ...
