... was started by Louis XIV and has been running since 1666 – so not that recent then!!

The gardens are well worth a visit and while the girls really enjoyed the first fountain we watched, which was set up to display in synchronisation with the music, this probably spoilt us for the rest, which didn’t come on till 3.30pm and were simply the fountains running against background classical music.

We waited for Neptunes fountain which only ran for 10 ...

After we found the underground path to reach the Arc de Triomphe, we decided to go to the top as well. It gave us a good view of the chaos below us and Champs-Élysées setting a path to the Louvre. We also had another nice view of the Eiffel Tower and took the opportunity for some photo fun. ... to coffee (tea in my case) and macaroons at Ladurée - started in the 1800s and is known for making the best macaroons in all of France. And it's true. I had a chocolate one and it was definitely one of the best experiences I've had since I've been here ha.
