... huge set of pretty iron gates and expectations were rising as we drove up the long ( yes longer than ours) drive, through woodland, past a lake and olive grove to arrive at a huge villa set in gorgeous grounds. A wonderful evening was had luxuriating in the thought of lie ins, no schedule and long lunches. The weather forecast looks amazing for the week, the fridge is full and we have plenty of Limoncello. A few of you have been asking how we are coping with the clean clothes issue. As you probably all know we are travelling really light, carrying only 4 hand luggage bags between us ( primarily to make sure their is enough room to bring back plenty of wine!) So how are we managing???? 1) I split the boys clothes in two and hid the 2nd bag under a seat in the car. This limited wardrobe was tricky ...

Wow, what a day. We were all so excited this morning about our day ahead in Venice. Charles, Max and I were here only a few years ago with Max's choir your so we were all really excited to show Ella this amazing city. I have finally got the hang of this touring thing and had pre booked a fast track entry into St Marks Basilica. Verona is a beautiful city full of Roman buildings. We visited their Amphitheatre. It was really wonderful to see that it is still used for concerts and the annual opera festival. Note to self to come back without kids to enjoy an evening performance. The setting is spectacular and the sets looked impressive. We did all the normal tourist stuff including visiting Juliet's house. There is a bizarre tradition of people leaving love notes and graffiti on the walls leading into the courtyard. ...
