Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, 506-653-0096
I woke up early and went outside and was greeted with a very clear view of the volcano. I can't even describe how impressive it is. It's there, gigantic, taking up the entire view. WOW! Ate a tipico breakfast of gallo pinto, eggs, tortillas, coffee and juice that was included with the room at the hotel. After breakfast we drove back into town to get some pictures of the church with the volcano in the background. We then checked out of the hotel and drove around Lake Arenal on our way to Tamar...
Tamarindo, Costa Rica sean_clare
... etc...I screwed it up and then had to do it all again, the sweat started to run down my face, oh the agony, then get passed that stage, then in line to actually check my bags/boarding pass, that went ok, then up the stairs to get something to eat. The little eating area that has air conditioning is full, ugh, I just paid $8 for a gatorade and 2 packs of crackers!!!! Unbelievable! I have to sit at the little tables outside the AC room, oh how I hate those ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica albert413... so I do have video proof of my surfing I just dont have any pictures, which sucks, I went out in the water with everyone in the afternoon and was taking pictures of them, so I will post a few, it was really great, I did a bunch of great shots, so Rafa said he would make sure he got some pics of me later this week.
We got in after sunset back to hotel last night after that session and then had like 3 sushi rolls we were starving. Then went up and changed and had a ...
... The snorkel/sunset sail was...interesting. It is so Spring Break times so my fear was a bunch of obnoxious American college boys. The end result was drunk, obnoxious, making out older people from my hostel, some of which are definitely over 35?! I made friends with a family from near Vancouver and with a couple that lives near Edmonton. As I may have mentioned before, where as sky-diving did not give me a thrill at all, just jumping off the back of a boat ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica adivine3... part of the Tamarindo Wildlife Refuge where we caught a boat ride across the estuary to Playa Grande.
Playa Grande is a long stretch of beach where the leather backs come ashore to lay their eggs. During the day the place is filled with swimming, surfing and strolling tourists and the occasional soccer game. Slowly we made our way down the beach, stopping to watch, birds, strange gastropods on the beach and to run into the cool refreshing waters of the Pacific ...
... zip-lining (Kalpa). Lauren had decided she wanted a relaxed day by the pool and volunteered to check us into our new room. Rappelling pretty much consisted of what it sounds like-we rappelled down four waterfalls and a dry wall ranging in height from 45 feet to 165 feet, and it was very fun. I was terrified, but it was quite an experience, although we ended up soaked through. On the way back down to town, we road in the back of a pick-up ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica moppet77... cities I have been to that many people say to avoid (Mexico City , Guatemala City , Tegucigalpa and Managua) this is the one that I find myself in agreement ... avoid it and you wont miss much. Finally , Leon in the North was mainly memorable for its number of colonial churches and the references to the 1979 revolution , being the place where Nicaragua´s politics & recent history was most in evidence (naturally not ...
Penas Blancas, Costa Rica garygapyearA few weeks ago I started getting very lonely because I couldn´t really communicate with the people in my town. At that time, my Spanish was still very bad and people in my talk talk very quickly. However, I was soon cured because the students had their 2 week ¨winter¨ vacation called Quincedias (during the end of June - early July). Here the rainy season is considered winter and the dry season summer (it´s still hot all the time). Therefore ...
Ida San Luis, Costa Rica joeleeis... Santa. Rosa is pretty awesome also so I can´t complain, and I am cooking gallo pinto with her maņana en la maņana. So excited!!!! I´m writting the recipe down and taking it with me! We decided to go camping out at Majagual at Matilda´s, the same place I had been camping before. Maia had never been and it was definately fun to be back out there for a night. The only thing was that the people who own it were being very strict and unfun because they ...
San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua travelrama... blowing away, to land on rocks and snap the nose. arrrh! lucky the guy who rented it to me, was a little dodgy and had no idea what something like that may cost to repair...or he just has some really good connections. :-) well, we hitched back to the little bigger close town of san juan for our last few days, to indulge in some nice food and... have a go at a quad bike. now that is the real clincher, running around all morning on the thing ...
