Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, 506-653-0096
I woke up early and went outside and was greeted with a very clear view of the volcano. I can't even describe how impressive it is. It's there, gigantic, taking up the entire view. WOW! Ate a tipico breakfast of gallo pinto, eggs, tortillas, coffee and juice that was included with the room at the hotel. After breakfast we drove back into town to get some pictures of the church with the volcano in the background. We then checked out of the hotel and drove around Lake Arenal on our way to Tamar...

... was in kindergarden), etc, but finally opted to try laying on the floor. The floor worked for a while, but that got uncomfortable, too. John managed to snag a lawn chair, so I eventually shoved him over and found a little space there. It was, afterall, nearly 3:30 in the morning at this point. That's right. 3:30 am -- we had spent so far nearly three hours waiting, and avoiding the rain. Not too long after that, they announced that the tide was ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica kimandjohn... until he came back in..he wasn't having a good session.<br>We head to Avellenas (Av), we went there last year and got crushed cuz the waves were so big and a hurricane was on its way, remember Jill got knocked out by a board? The ride there was cool, we got delayed by cattle on the road, they took up the whole road and they just went around us, it was a sight. We get to Av and its beautiful, lots of people the whole way down to the crazy fallen tree, thankfully no dead ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica albert413... electric fence there, Im from Pennsylvania, I know these things" ummm I was like dude there is no fence there, just old posts..your bombed...and the cows just came up over the hill, he was in shock, Rookies! So since I lost my adopted dog Stanley I gained a cow that I fondly called Claudio. As you can see by the pics, there is a remarkable resemblance! So we continue on as the cow runs down the middle of the road, I love this place. Cars ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica albert413After Mai Pais we drove back north to Beujco to stay one night and relax then set out again to Tamarindo. Once we got to Tamarindo I was a suprised to see Gringos everywhere and all the bells and whistles that come with it i.e paved roads, strip malls, and some of the US´s finest franchises (pizza huts, subways, etc..) We ...
Tamarindo, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica jdarby... of Yahtzee, Oh Hell, Backgammon, and here we were able to play pool as well. One night there was even a bonfire on the beach. One of the main highlights was my 23rd birthday! My parents, the best in the world, splurged on a birthday dinner for me and my friends! I went all out with a tenderloin, mashed potatoes, veggies, and fresh bread. We split warm apple pie with ice cream for dessert and I had a Mai Tai to celebrate! We were in our glory. What a great week!
La Cruz, Costa Rica claudiacfavre... I think Granada is on its way towards being like Antigua Guatemala ... not sure this is necessarily a good thing. Ometepe island was wonderful with its amazing volcano scenery and I enjoyed making the effort to get out of my lakeside hammock for the trekking , mountain biking and the ************quest of another volcano. Managua was just , well , weird for want of a better word , with it´s eerie quiet and lack of people - of all the ...
Penas Blancas, Costa Rica garygapyear... It did have the effect of making all the howlers howl (or rather groan) as we went past. The noise from the motor was seemingly enough to make them want to assert their territory, or say hello, or whatever it is that they are saying. And despite all my scepticism, the trip to Nicaragua was well worthwhile. Very early one we came across a big group of howler monkeys feeding in the dense ivy-like vine that covers some of the open patches of the forest. We were ...
La Fortuna, Costa Rica mlc... about 20 minutes of trying not to drown we left. We drove for like ten minutes to a beach called Playa Conttrel, the sand is all crushed sea shells and there is these really cool trees to relax under, So we just watched the sunset and called it a day. I took the 530 AM bus on Monday to do some more surfing and the waves were clean, slightly smaller and fun. For the 2nd week in a row I will be the only student in my class, I have a different professor and she is good. I am ...
Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica buckets2100... Granada showed me just how people phobic i have become over the past weeks. this relatively quaint town, but a tourist hub for people, just made me want to pack up and keep going. and that is excatly what we did. straight out of there and up to the national park of volcano mombacho. Had it on my list, that i really wanted to climb yet another volcano, preferrably one over 1000m. this one seemed perfect until.... we got on the bus to get there ...
