Mina 302 Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico
Thanks to luxurious buses I could get to Oaxaca by night, it helps to save much time if you´re on the rush, like I was :) Oaxaca is live and colorful city with perfect location between mountains. Thanks to its location you can visit Valles Centrales and some of their monuments or famous villages. And don´t forget to taste the CHOCOLATE, which is made right in Oaxaca and sold all over the city. However, the most important and must-see here is the Monte Alban monumental site on the hill above t...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico jackyna... t even step back far enough away from it to get a comprehensive photograph. So we got a few shots of the trunk and some of the branches. And some of the strange neighboring garden in which someone had laboriously shaped all of the bushes into animals. Hmm.
We headed back to the zocalo in the end and did the only natural thing—order more food and more beer. Then we taxied it up to La Villada and tallied up Coronas on my ‘honor’ sheet, as the ...
... the mexican version of jaeger. funniest thing ive ever seen! Fordy was ******* himself. I swear this guy was jaegers twin, even danced and walked around the bar like him. We headed to bed fairly early as we had a 9:30 bus out, so we had to get up early for once. We are headed to Puerto Escondido which is a surf town. So I think we were both looking forward to something different, no zocalos and churches for a few days, just some sun, surf, beers and hopefully bikini clad ladies!
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico solskjaer20... to spend time with at an orphanage in Kyrgyzstan. It amazes me how similar they are, despite living in opposite climates on opposite sides of the world. Although I feel like I already have a pretty good plan for what I want to do with the rest of my life, if those plans fell through, working with those kinds of kids would be my next choice - they never fail to put a smile on my ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico smcollins... vistas further reinforced the Provence comparison.
If you like the quiet life in a superb surrounding only 17 kilometers from Oaxaca, this may be your opportunity to buy that lot with a view and build a little home of your dreams.
Once we reached the white church further up the hill the scenery more or less went off the scale as we found beautiful reflecting pools near what appeared to be a former country palace.
I expected to find that ...
... day to go. This would leave us to do the shopping tour without feeling too tired. The shopping tour had 4 stops, which brought us to local "factories" where the locals made the oaxacan items. First we went to a place where they carved and painted the famous wooden figures. These were very expensive, and of course the little monster that I liked was not even painted. I guess that saved me some money! Amanda found a little cat friend who was ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico ricolola... scam so the driver didn't have to go far or indeed it had moved and was further into town. In the rain with 28 kilos each, we walked and we walked and we walked, no magic to be seen. By now we were wet, the streets were crowded and life wasn't that great... a new hostel to be found it was, the only one being on the other side of the city! Eventually though we made it, Ads looked at the room, said yes and upstairs we climbed... at this point I got a tiny bit disturbed in that ...
Oaxaca, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico nikandads2008... it on ritz, it was so good! I am definitely making that when I get back home! After I woke up from my nap I went to this café with Rhonda where we could use their wi-fi. Oh! I don't have internet at my house anymore because Holiday Inn decided to put a password to get into the internet! So expect my blogs the next afternoon not the same, I'm pretty mad about it but oh well, nothing I can do, maybe I'll try to hack into it. After that I went and used Skype of course. I ...
Oaxaca, Mexico tmpatton... at least 2-3 hours to see the site and the museum displays. Hungry after all the walking and climbing we left Monte Alban for the village of San Martin Tilcajete famous for it's Wood Carvers. Getting from the west of Oaxaca to the highway heading south we took a few wrong turns and found ourselves heading back west. Finally we were on the right road. Road signs in Oaxaca are somewhat ambigious. We stopped for lunch along ...
Oaxaca, Mexico kbramblings... English, was interested in earning a few bucks working with me for a few hours making calls and setting up appointments for me to look at apartments. With my current limited language skills, I knew I needed help. No way around it. His wife Gaby ended up helping me out and by Friday, I was in an apartment. The place is great and exactly where I wanted to be. A little language emersion without actually having to live ...
