Following the decision that 200 miles is the optimum for a realistic distance at 50 mph and allowing for hold ups the trip to Arnhem was completed easily within those guidelines (thankfully!) ... attractions was watching our boat transported through one of the many locks. Travelling further down the canal system it became apparent that the water-line is unusually high with the banks close to the maximum retaining height. After another sumptuous 4-course dinner, it was time to go up on deck. Despite the chilly conditions, it was shortly after 11pm when our vessel merged with the Rhein - in the darkness we had unceremoniously slipped into Germany.

... a menu with 4 main meals. Translated they were all odd fish things like perch. The waiter offered to get something made for me so I opted for a chicken and vegetable sweet and sour type thing off menu. It was very tasty but there was a lot there. It was very odd to be sat totally on my own eating my dinner.

So now I'm back at the freaky sports hotel with a full belly, only a small amount of food spilled down my front and a lot of miles put on my car. ...
