    ... and the weather was in the 50's, we thoroughly enjoyed it. There were still crowds on the main walkways, but it was manageable. We got a great room with wonderful breakfasts near the Santa Lucia train station for $100 or so. That may be half price.

    ... in the gondola, it listed heavily to my side..ha. Probably should have tipped the driver a little extra for the extra workout he got. Going down the canals was quite surreal.     ... After arriving in St Mark's Square for the third time in the space of half an hour, I decide it was time to consult the map.

    At some point I thought about eating dinner. As I roved from restaurant to restaurant checking out the menus and, in particular, the prices, I very quickly realised that I was probably going to starve in Venice. The prices were what I would pay in Albury, but in euros - you do the conversion!

    ... bright and comfortable but not hot. There were lots of people around but no unmanageable crowds. Good time to come.

    We dodged the Doges and simply walked and rode the vaporettis ( water taxis) around the city and through all the neighbourhoods. Mike said he thought perhaps they designed the city based on a hotel he was in in Las Vegas.
