... We drove to Ohrid in the dark with no place to stay. We found a parking spot in the centre of town and we asked the parking attendant if he knew of any places that were reasonably priced to sleep, and it so happened his friend was riding his bike by that owned a hostel! What are the chances. We followed him to the hostel and were pleasantly surprised at how nice and clean it was! It was also right in the centre of Ohrid with walking distance ...

This time I was heading to a city called Batumi which is on the Black Sea only minutes away from Turkey. I found a minibus that was almost full and I got one of the last seats. That meant that there would be little waiting time, and after just a little while we were off. We drove through scenic mountain roads and after about 5 hours made it ...

After our evening at the monastery, we made our way down to the big and very popular lake Ohrid area. We stayed in Ohrid for a few days and really liked the quiet beauty here. The lake is actually divided and lies both in Macedonia and Albania which we thought was quite neat. Apparently you can boat across from one country to the other!
We had a lovely host here in Ohrid and really loved our visits with him.

Appreciating the people we're meeting along the way,

... and I joined Graeme and Lynne for a cappuccino at a beach restaurant below the little church. The cappuccinos were quite large with a third of the glasses filled with very thick cream. Quite nice, especially if you are into cream. From there we walked a bit on the rocky beach past boats on shore and then on a wooden walkway along the cliff. I liked the walkway. No matter where we were, the views of the lake were beautiful - the ...
