Hallo zusammen,<br><br>bin vor 6 Uhr aufgestanden um den Bus nach Bitola zu erwischen. Dies war eine bedeutende ottomanische Stadt mit einigen Konsuln aus anderen Laendern. Daher gibt es einige nette alte Gebaeude, einige Moscheen und einen kleinen Basar, wie ihn jede islamische Stadt hat.<br><br>Die Stadt ist natuerlich nicht uebermaessig gross, hatte 3h Aufenthalt, neben der Stadt gibt es allerdings noch eine weitere Sehenswuerdigkeit 2km ...

... als Einnahmequelle zu foerdern, hat aber das Problem, dass es keine Kueste hat, das haelt dann doch viele Touristen ab hierhin zu kommen. Dafuer hat es den tiefsten See des Balkans, Lake Ohrid, an dessen Ufer die Stadt Ohrid liegt (300m tief). Dies ist die schoenste Stadt Mazedoniens, einige Kirchen, eine Festung ueber der Stadt und einige alte Gebaeude. Es ist daher auch die touristischste Stadt. So ...

... on tiny bumpy road by lake. Stop by some cops to enquire further. They turn out to be military, seem up to something suspicious, and are not at all amused to be quizzed by gawping foreigner!<br>Decide to give up quest and head for hotel. First one snooty and full; but second turns out to be pearl: right on lake, bustling little restaurant with excellent menu. Orhid is a really nice little touristy town that has not got the tourist levels of say some where in Greece or Croatia. ... From replenishment, we headed to window shop and to buy some gifts. In the middle of all the chaos there is what is called Chinar. It is an 1,100 year old tree, which is being protected. ... stayed at Antonio's Guesthouse, which was a wonderful experience. Antonio met the bus from Skopje at the station and took us back to his home, where his mother took very good care of us. I had my own room for 10 Euro a night with a space heater (very important), and Wednesday night, Antonio even took us out to the popular party spot in town and explained which drinks were cheap. Unfortunately, vodka and tequila for 70 cents can make for a rough night.
