Cobbled together

... 500 km of bike trails, but today we decided to stick to the coastal path heading into the national park. The dry heat and smell of the forest reminded us of Australia. All the way along the track were Rocky beaches and people swimming and sunbathing. Every now and then we would have to make a detour around the naturist parks (there were a few). Just for a laugh I was tempted to strip off and cycle naked through one of these areas but ...

... point from Italy. So we bid farewell to ham products three times a day as our slow ferry lived up to its billing with a chug out into the Adriatic Sea. Finally we wander back and sit and read on the patio of the bar next door to the hotel.

We have an early bus in the morning, so we turn in early

We had promised the boys to try out the large bouncy house playground and maybe even play mini-golf in the evening, but the forecast was nasty and the radar ominous, so instead we joined everyone else for dinner at a nice Italian restaurant along the beach ...

A drive in the country

As long as we have a car, let's take a drive up the coast. Heading to Porec to admire mosaics in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I first admire the polished stones of the shopping area of the old city. These must be a recent upgrade because they are mostly even and easy to walk on.

The first mosaics I notice are glimmering golden above a door in the 6th Century Euphrasian Basilica. We buy our passage and enter. There are columns that have ...
