I would definitely recommend staying at Posada los Mapaches . Friendly, clean, cheap, and a wonderful breakfast included. Highway noise is the old drawback. Like already mentioned, bikes are included for the entire duration of your stay, which makes traveling around Tulum super easy.
Today I woke up early again, some holiday this is. Na, just joking, it's good to get up early every now and then to make sure I miss out on the worst of the tourist crowds.
Met up with the dive shop people down the road and got suited up for some fins and a wet suit, it's ment to be cold down in those caves. A short van ride and we were in a Myan reserve which was home to the Cenote of Dos Ojos. The cenotes are a system of underground rivers ...
Tulum is one of the prettiest places we have ever seen. It's a small little town, with not a lot of tourism, but you can tell more and more people are discovering this cute little town. We stayed in the Lobo Inn where we felt like we were at home. Everyone there was so lovely! Especially Estefan who Adam calls "Me amigo". Pretty cool dude. Had some good drinking sessions with him! Spent a day at ...
Tulum, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico karrina... anything. To no avail, we would have to walk the 2 miles to the bus station to find out if we where staying an extra night or not. Janet, the hotel owners wife, Who indecently is from Mexico City, Offered to give us a ride to the bus station, it was already slipping past 12:00pm and we where just ready to accept the fact we would be making it to Merida for any type of Halloween or Dias de los Muertos festival. After about another 30 minutes of Janet talking ...
Tulum, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico arainbolt... walls, despite centuries of battling the elements. Amazing. There are 4 carvings of the descending guy on the face of the building, and a marvelously preserved stele in front of it. But I've always found the most fascinating feature to be the masks decorating the 2 front upper corners of the building. You can see the profile of a warrior from each side, or look head-on at the comer to see a full facial view, eyes eerily following you as you walk around ...
Tulum, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico tacoinusa... I took a runup and jumped in, creating ripples arcoss the whole pund and frightening the alligator who disapeared into the water. Great! haha the others werent all that impressed with having an aligator swimming around. We checked our buoyancy which is a littel different in fresh water. I only needed 6 pounds compared with the 11 i normally take in salt water. (with a full wetsuit) It was time to go down.at first amazing visibility. Tree roots poking our of ...
Tulum, Mexico muzz_travelling... cliffs within the site. To get there you go from the parking (30 pesos for the whole day) through a small shopping parade with all sorts of tiny souvenir shops to small cafes and restaurants. You have to walk to the site's entrance or you can take a ride on this funky train on wheels. we walked there, it's not a long walk, maybe about 1 km. Site entrance is on your left ...
Tulum, Mexico paula.ka... their backs and watching them freak out when about a million fish attack them, Stephanie and I got back on the bikes to head back into town, while Casey and Lizan(Stephanie's French Canadian roommate) headed to a turtle sanctuary nearby. After reaching a dead end and realizing we were lost, we realized we had made a wrong turn. Sidenote: When asking for directions in Spanish remember that derecho means straight and ...
Tulum, Mexico gbendeck... get all Christmas cards sent etc So whatīs happened in meantime? Iīve changed gender for one and joined the male race. My hair had gotten out of control (back to the 2nd year "Sheīs electric" songs!) so I decided to cut it. I had done an excellent job of thinning it and doing some fanxy layers at the front (strands of hair cut different lengths for any buffer males reading!) I trusted Collins with the task of cutting the hair at the back ...
Tulum ***, Mexico roro... part of the trip though. itīs just amazing how many people they can fit in those things. They just donīt know the meaning of full! There seems to always be more room. Itīs pretty funny to see David try to smash those long legs into the aile ways while sharing a seat with 4 or 5 others plus all there supplies for the market that day. After leaving the Guatemalan Western Highland area we went north east towards belize and entered belize by way of bus into San ...
