... many small, crowded beach areas, flat rock outcrops full of people, huge villas and hotels and houses gripping the cliffs. There was a lot of stairs carved out of the rocks from homes hundreds of meters above water level which would give them access to the sea. Quite a few had inclinators which would be an absolute necessity. There were small towns nestled in these valleys between the cliffs that were a hive of activity. ... got a taxi back about 12.30 and arrived into SM, where the biggest party was going on. Thousands of people walking the streets dressed up and bands around every corner. Apparently every year on the 15th August, (it starts at midnight), everyone dresses up for this major festival. God knows where that all come from.

We have had another beautiful day in paradise.

We met Cathy, Bada and Ellen around 10 ish and walked to Portofino. We had coffee at a little cafe in the Piazza before walking up to the chapel on the hill. There was a lot of people and boats out today. I guess being Sunday and another hot day.
