We took two buses into town, and out of town today, to see what the other side of the river had to offer. We found a quieter part of the city, set upon a hill, with deserted streets and restaurants welcoming customers with both arms extended. Following a recommendation we had brunch at a patisserie. The woman had no English so we practiced our phrase book French to order some macarons and a delicious vegetable laden open tart. We strolled the streets and took ...

Well, we've been north, south and west so today we are going East. We have always wanted to do a part of the route of the Tour de France (which came through St Remy this year) so we decided to do a few miles from here along part of stage 15 of this year's Tour to the Luberon mountains and up to Banon. We also wanted to call into a village called Apt in the Vaucluse ...

... through the cobbled lane ways we looked hard to find a cute little restaurant that was 'French enough' yet accommodating enough to an 'Aussie wallet'. Ironically we found a lot of Japanese but finally found a little place with planter boxes and pastel wrought iron chairs and tables out front, bonjour French dinner, we've found you. After all of the bread and ham in Spain, it was lovely to a have a flavoursome meal of meat and vegetables. Tres bien! We could of ...

Lauterbrunnen was breathtakingly beautiful. We drove into the valley about 6pm yesterday, the road ran alongside a raging river. Lush green woods on either side with sheer rock faces above and waterfalls spouting out every so often. The bus was silent but for "What a wonderful world" playing in the background... not surprisingly I got quite emotional! It reminded me of spotting warterfalls on the way ...
