Tuesday 23rd Dec - I know I'm getting a little repetitive, but ever since I saw this place on a TV program I have wanted to visit it in real life, so this was our chance as its only a short train trip from Bari. It's a picturesque village that is another World UNESCO heritage site for its unique "trulli" houses that have cone shaped roofs.
The history behind them is, once the whole town where just of trulli and being typical Italian - they were designed to fiddle ...

... Sorry to my friend Michael, but I could not help myself. 4.11.14 Alberobello Left The Queen to herself and headed south towards Alberobello Italy on the Autostrada and Jenny had another good go at driving, she has not quite gotten used to the lane drifting and the cutting you off by the locals yet. ... in shape and another gorgeous white town. Once again voted in as a pretty village. Apparently every year it is compulsory to white wash all the buildings and so it really looked clean, white and very pretty. Instead of 'trullis' it has 'truddhis' with tops which have peaked gabled rooves instead and do seem bigger. We hope to frame some of today’s photos and it is one place we actually thought we would like to live. We had a lovely time. At one ...

We had another great day. Slower start and then we drove firstly to Ostuni – this is a white hilltop town about 30 minutes south from Alberobello. BTW Alberobello means beautiful tree and there are sure plenty round here. Craig and I first saw Ostuni from a distance on the train and I was very keen to see it. The drive was lovely even with the rain, and along the way we saw many very old olive trees with very thick trunks. After parking we ...

... are a lot of olive trees round here and many white buildings. The trulli buildings are cone shaped and look very cute. It is nice and quiet here and we have our own kitchen again which is wonderful. We set out and did some shopping at the Conad supermarket and tonight we cooked at home – yeh. Pasta and salad – only one course – portion sizes we wanted. We really loved being with relatives but it is nice to be on our own ...
