... an hour because of an incident – a man who had been trying for three days (so we heard later) to fly anywhere, managed to sneak on board our flight. The error was picked up on board and staff started a systematic check of everyone's tickets followed by a passport check against the manifest. After the stowaway was found he was escorted off and staff checked all hand luggage to see if he had left anything on the plane. Only his hat apparently.

... the Acropolis fully lit up at night under the full moon is a magnificent site.
We enjoyed strolling through the Plaka district at night and seeing all of the restaurants and shops catering to the locals and the tourist. Thanks to John’s inquiry at a hotel, we discovered a restaurant called Mono. The food at Mono was great and not too expensive. We enjoyed delicious baked octopus and an amazing dish of pork pieces baked ...
... to get any money from me. Sure, there are occasionally store owners here shouting, but they don't try to make friends just for the sake of a quick sale. But, as I've said many times, don't we often misconstrue relationships that exist merely for the purpose of getting something for real friendships? In other words, we don't always distinguish between the process of getting business done and the need for true friendship for its own sake. And, also as I've ...
Athens, Attica, Greece jimmyrh... us, and all the other architecture of in the distance, it was amazing. it was right where socrates would give his speeches to his students. the jagged rocks had been smoothed over by thousands of years of people stepping on them, and in places were extremely smooth. it was quite the christmas eve to remember. Then the next mornning we helped chop vegetables for our chrsitmas dinner at our hostel. it ws free as long as you contributed something. so we chopped veggies and ...
Athens, Attica, Greece ryank5... 0) I awoke the next morning experiencing a familiar feeling, a feeling that I hadn't experienced since Amsterdam, a feeling on my skin, a sort if itch.....'No, not again' I thought. Running to the mirror I discovered that my worry was not unjustified, the mosquito kisses were back. Luckily nowhere near the extent of what I now call 'the Amsterdam episode'. Gazing around the room I saw the open window above the head of a roommate. It was a window he had left open and as I packed my things ...
Athens, Attica, Greece talamarkoBack on dry land! Left the port of Pireaus in Athens for a 9 day EasyCruise Ionian Sea adventure...ports of call were Itea, Ithaki, Saradina (Albania), Corfu, Preveza, Kefalonia, Kiato (Ancient Corinth), the back on May 8th to Marina Zea, Athens. Whew! Easycruise was a blast! So very unlike any other cruise we've done, and mostly for the better. The room was small, but did have a window and we weren't in there often anyway, so it suited us just fine. Beds ...
Athens, Attica, Greece whatboundaries... phoned home. From there I was able to guide my brothers in what to put down. Which was a bit of help in settling my nerves. However I wasn't entirly forgiven as they punished me (deservedly) for puting them through that by booking me in to the 8:30 am interview slot. So the moral of this story kids is always check your email every two to three days. Now we're in rome and that saga is over I just have to find a flight home in time. James
Athens, Greece belstar... and raced around through the undergrowth pretending i was some sort of photographic sniper. I got some really good shots and got out of there before anyone saw me. It was classic. Then and climbed the hill up to the Acropolis and around a hundred people milling around out the front. The cops were there and there was several very unhappy looking tourists eyeing up the striking staff on the other side of the fence in some sort of twisited Graeco ...
Athens, Greece eurotrashAfter finishing my midterm for Humanities, including an essay about Ancient Greece, it was crazy to get on a plane a few days later bound for Athens. From step one, this trip was completely different from the other traveling I've been doing. Since Greece was under the heading of 'Educational Field Trip' Pepperdine paid for the flight and the hotel. SO rather than catching a taxi in pre-dawn darkness, a bus took the entire Pepperdine ...
Athens, Greece maryberry... going. I responded by giving him a card for the Adrian Hotel. He then said it would cost 4,000 drachma. Since this was in the ballpark of taxi fares that Lonely Planet mentioned, I agreed. Soon, we were off to the hotel.
It didn’t take long before we realized that our driver was lost. He had no problem getting us to Syntagma Square. But, the maze of the Plaka seemed to be too much for him. He drove down a couple of streets, but always managed to turn back ...
