    ... of strangers' beaming faces... We were warned by a passerby about mugging, and admittedly a shadowed riverbank after dark probably wasn't the wisest diversion to have taken, but everybody was almost suffocatingly friendly to the point it was hard to escape without at least one child having curled up in your pocket.
