Spring Break! WHOOOOOOOHOOO!

... I remember that at some point I will return to my American house, my American animal (princess Libby), and my family and friends and become overwhelmed at the thought. I have decided that anthropologists must be crazy to do what we do and wonder if it every gets any easier to navigate between the two lives that are ultimately one in the same and only separated by kilometers. In happier vacation updates...I ...

The Central African Republic-179th country!

... I was quite happy to move on.It was the day that the "National Conference for Unity" started, and there were thousand of soldiers along the highway to the airport. They were waiting for a few exiled politicians to return to attend the meeting. It's Toumai Air Tschad again, today on time, for the 90 minutes flight to Brazzaville.By the way, also the Angolan Airline TAAG would fly the same route on different days.

Lost in translation...

... We both seem to really enjoy crossing stuff off of the list. Its similar to when I follow Katie and Patrick around best buy with a blank look on my face. Except in that case it is probaly boredom (sorry guys, love you) and here it is sensory overload! I do not have much time to write but I wanted to update you all. I am well and working towards getting to Bayanga! Hopefully this Thursday!

Yesterday I had my hands on gorilla and elephant meat! Agh! What a research topic! I really don't know how I do this without getting emotionally involved. Must be an ice queen. I met the president of the market as well as the two female chiefs of the market. They enjoyed ...

Evan lo ke na ngu oko laso

... I'm not too sure what Evan thought of all that but he enjoyed the bananas nonetheless. Tomorrow we leave for Bayanga. Hopefully we will get on the road about 0600 so that we don't arrive too late. We will be staying at the Doli Lodge for a couple of nights while we get the house in order. It may be a while before I can give any more updates. I will continue to write blog entries off line and upload them when I get a chance.

1 Down hopefully no more to go

... ripped down and destroyed. So now I have 1 camera. Ok so then I went to print the photos with the 4x6 photo printer that I brought. The printer is fine however it appears that I neglected to bring the paper and ribbon for it! Ok so I'll just use the travel printer that Lesley brought to print her notes and writings. Nope, it didn't survive the trip, 2 cracks in the casing and every error light on. Ok so I'll take the SD card to the local photolab and have the prints ...

WWF Compound Bangui, CAR

... flakes at the super market costs $6.00 and along with groceries you can buy a car, a fake Macintosh (markintosh), furniture, you name it. Everything is run down and dirty with trash all over the place mixed in with ads for cell phones. It's pretty surreal overall. The weather is very nice. It gets down to upper 60's at night and there is always a nice breeze so the temperature never feels bad at all. You really don't need an air ...
