Day trip to Monaco and many stops in between!

... out the dishes and apologized profusely. For dinner, Dad had scallops over risotto made with canaroli rice (the real, rare rice that is best for risotto but is always never used - instead most restaurants use the cheaper arborio rice). I had the octopus with chorizo and potatoes. After a great meal, we walked around Nice and even stopped for a little ice cream for the walk back to the hotel.

Another great day in Nice!

... unscheduled days in Nice, what would we do?
We spent the first in Monaco, only 30 minutes drive away. There we wandered around the town, checked out the luxury yachts in the harbour, followed some of the Monte Carlo Formula One racing circuit and spent a couple of hours admiring Prince Rainiers collection of cars in his private museum. Not that you have to go to a museum to see luxury cars, I'm sure that in Monaco there are more luxury cars per square kilometre, ...

... French cream cheese we found! The food fuelled our adventurous side and it got us up and out of the room with gusto.

We went for a walk around Nice’s old town and wandered through the streets of old buildings. The decision was made to spend the day relaxing at the beach and we went down to the rocks and spent the day sprawled out along the rocks. Back to the hotel we had forgotten that we needed to check in still, we did that with as much haste as possible and then headed out to where we thought we were all meeting.

At the store, we ended up in the line for credit cards, thanks to the broken English translation of a nice lady. Made our purchase and asked for a bag. Oops, "not free, not free" they told us.
