Innsbruck
... attraction at Innsbruck is the Golden Roof. The roof of a building is foiled with gold and is a nice backdrop to the huge lit-up Christmas tree in the centre of town. Both needing a new pair of pants, we ducked into the local H&M and spent around €20 each on a pair. With the shopping done, we noticed lots of young people walking into a make-shift bar selling this hot punch for €2 each. We decided to check it ...
Christmas Markets!
... Makes a change to NZ slopes that are mostly freezing. Got some really good pictures of the mountains along with some nice cheesy ones of us too :)
Also half way up the mountain was an alpine zoo. Never been to one of those, so we decided to check it out. Housed all sorts of cool animals, our favourite being the bear that continued to dig a great big hole and show off to the on lookers, he was pretty cool.

Lunch in a pizzeria. ...
Forest thaw
... was overcast, as predicted by the weather forecast. It certainly wasn't cold and the final few kilometers along the lake to the south of Achensee turned into a gentle stroll. A welcome beer in a village cafe and ice cream for the weak-willed. Back to the hotel after a 7-8 miles' walk and a welcome afternoon snooze. Saunas look to be on the agenda again as I write - you'll have to wait for the outcome of ...
