... and the back side of something or another ... I know didn't say we were proud of ourselves, but sometimes the guides get a little/or a lot long winded and you need to amuse yourself where you can. The trek up to the Parthenon is fairly treacherous, marble underfoot which they kindly polish each day to look pretty, and make it very difficult for the stupid tourists to get up the hill. It doesn't appear to deter anyone however, there are people for ...

... telling her companions that it is unfortunate that the Greeks are so sloppy in their restoration work and have been so untidy and not even bothered to make sure every column of the Parthenon is perfectly lined up! It seems you can't please everyone all the time. There was so much to see on the acropolis that we were there for near on four hours and then there was still more to see as we began to make our way down. We went to ...

    ... for sorting me out!

It is now 5.30pm local time and I have been out for a 8 hour walk. First stop, via a circuitous route - Syntagma Square. This is where the changing of the guards ceremony takes place. If you can be bothered do a search on YouTube - it is a fascinating process! Today even more so as there is a military band and personnel on site and a gathering of dignitaries. No one knows why but.... we are all ushered out of the ...
