... surprised, makes a difference from Ryanair 😜 Had a nightmare when we got to athens - Jim was a no show. In hindsight we should have gone outside to look if he was waiting in his car, but he wasn't at arrivals so I just assumed he wasn't there as I had had trouble this week communicating with him. We eventually got hold of him and he took us to the apartment in central Athens. The apartment is quite cute, basic but does the job. And it's so central which ...

... did get there eventually but when we got on board there was no hot water so we decided to eat dinner in our day clothes and then get dressed up. Ivan the chef did well again. We had a BBQ with pork, these Croatian sausages, chips and salad, followed by fruit salad. It was then happy hour on board and we got dressed up to go back into town. This whole area was incredibly pretty. The major train station (that we will depart from tomorrow) was amazingly elaborate and lit up from ...

... the area around the Acropolis. The city of Athens is huge. Endless winding narrow lanes and avenues, with beautiful historical building and modern touches. The city is beautiful but one thing we noticed was how there was graffiti everywhere. Some where amazing pieces of art but most of the graffiti was senseless tagging on every surface. Such a shame when people tag the side of a building which looks like it could ...

... I wanted to see how these people operate as a whole.I discovered that they move fast. Especially the traffic. Every car is moving at breakneck speeds and doesn't care whats ahead. Stop signs and lights are really more of a suggestion. In New York it's similar, but not like here. Cars jumped the sidewalks to pass other cars. Some just park in the middle of the street if it suits them. As a pedestrian you have zero rights. Sometimes the sidewalk is safe, but ...
