    ... wine filled groups and couples, dancing on the balconies, listening to the gypsy music accompanied by locals singing, eating cheese platters, chatting, laughing, and watching people walk in to fill up their big plastic containers full of wine! We had such a fun afternoon and evening. They could definitely learn a thing or two from the Australian wine regions especially in terms of what they offer. Most cellars only offer wine, or maybe a bag of peanuts or piece of bread with lard! ...

    Headed South into Hungary, on the back roads, the rain has stopped, the roads are good and with very little traffic I've had a fun day. Bimbled along at around 60 mph just taking in the sites. Temperature in the high 20's so all good. Managed to get 390 miles out of a tank so I must be taking is slow!!

    Our day started with a tour through the neighbouring town of Eger. There were so many charming twisty little streets full of nicely restored historical buildings, a medieval castle on the hilltop and lots of restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops. The castle was were, against all odds, the Egerites famously and successfully defended the town from the invading Turks in 1552.     ... Oak barrels which housed their C************ the way to the formal cellar tasting room, complete with a round table like King Arthur's! It was very atmospheric- a tasting there would have been cool but it was booked for a larger group that day. Once we'd finished our tour, we all purchased some wine, as you can't find it at any retail outlet, then we got a ride back down the road from the winery owner- very nice of him!
