We have recommendations from several people, and after doing some research decided to head to Miskolc and the cave bath. Laci stopped off before we left with some cookies "for the boys", that had a very pungent alcohol flavor. Laura tasted one right away and decided it was a whiskey filling, so we aren't really sure if Laci was joking or not, but we are ...

... it was after 5pm so it was off to the Valley of Beautiful Women, (aka Sirens Valley) just on the edge of town. Most families in this area grow their own grapes and produce wine, which they store and sell from the caves in the hillside. Hungary is known for its red wine (Egri Bikaver) aka, Bulls Blood. One story has it that the Ottomans, amazed by the ferocity of the Egerites asked a merchant what made them so strong and their beards so red. The merchant replied, Bulls Blood. That ...

... a Unesco World Heritage site because of its unique grasslands landscape and cultural heritage, and Galya Teto, the highest point in Hungary... all with my dad as tour director. We also enjoyed morning walks around Noszvaj, where my father had grown up and had lots of stories to tell, from singing in a choir on the church steps, to draining barrels of wine in their cellar so the Russian soldiers would not be able to take it. Our hosts, Aranka and Gyuszi, ...
