          Kolhapur Trip

Let me start by telling you that Panchsheel was not my first choice - It was the unavailability of rooms at my preferred locations which landed me here. At the hindsight, I now thank them (or my stars maybe!) for checking me into this one. Coming to the crux of my review -

          1. Location: Panchsheel Hotel is very much on the main road, at the heart of the city and about a 15 min drive from the National Highway-4, besides being easily accessible to Mahalakshmi Temple, Panhala Hills / Fort and Rankala Lake.

          2. Ambience & Service: The external and internal ambience of the hotel is good and well maintained. The same can be said for the rooms too. Talking about rooms, they are comfortable, decent on space, well-lit and above all - contain all the amenities generally offered in a 3-Star. The service is prompt and helpful - We requested an extra bedding at the time of check-in which they had it delivered just-in-time for bed without a reminder. Impressive!

          3. Restaurant & Food: The hotel has two restaurant options, one for the continental - Little Italy, and the other for the local preference - Bagicha which is Rooftop restaurant. Little Italy hosts a bar too for those who wish to indulge. At our choice - Bagicha - the service is slow. It takes about 20 minutes to deliver, however it's worth the wait, given the quality and taste of the food. We tried the standard Punjabi dishes which was good. Breakfast is complimentary with a decent spread. The restaurant makes it a point to include local delicacies; enjoyed the famous Kolhapuri Misal Pav on one of the mornings. Again, the restaurant staff is polite and courteous.

Over a period of time I have come to realize that while we do everything to make our trips exciting with thrills, knowledge, adventure, etc., a relaxed stay is an equally important parameter. Hotel Panchsheel confirms my belief. Kudos!

Its one of those days wherein you just want to run off from the hustle and bustle of work life and spend some quality time with family. Though Kolhapur had been on my wish list for quite some time, somehow the trip didn't materialize. And then we had this Independence Day weekend of 2015 where things were falling in place and all we had to do was …

We have had a week of relaxation ,plenty of swimming in the pool here at the Royal Goan timeshare resort and the local beach for the warmest ocean water we have ever dipped into. There is a very laid back holiday atmosphere and apart from the beaches we have soaked in the influence of the Portuguese who settled here over 500 years ago A thrill was visiting Braganza house a Portuguese colonial mansion still ...

This morning we docked in Goa, India. This was a Portuguese colony for hundreds of years. It has only been slightly more that 50 years ago that Goa has been a part of India. Because of that there is still a strong Portuguese influence here. India is a country of extremes and can be overwhelming if you aren't prepared for it. Third world country standards are not what we are accustomed to. This is definitely not a country for ...

... s time. A completely packed bus to Palus was just about to leave. We decided not to risk waiting for another bus and boarded this already over crowded bus. We somehow managed to put our backpacks on the lofts and found places to stand such that we wouldn't fall down. The road was mostly through sugarcane farms, with small villages every few minutes. That day, there were weddings happening everywhere. All through the way, we saw cars and ...
