Location old city area. Staff is excellent espically at the front desk. They answered all questions, when we asked about renting a car for the day they made it so easy. Car was delivered and picked up from the hotel. Rooms are clean, breakfast buffet good with lots of choices. Great value, reasonably priced. We enjoyed our stay. Not too far from hotel was the Grop Tapas Bar had great drinks and food. Recommend Tequila Sunset and albondigas championes.

On our first morning in Mallorca I checked with the concierge to see if it was possible to rent a car for a day. Next thing I know I'm telling Don we have a car coming in 45 minutes. He thought we were going on a scenic train trip today, I blew him out of the water with this news. We are in the city of Palma, and the car rental company will bring …

Friday, October 14 was a travel day, high-speed train from Zaragoza to Barcelona, then a flight to the island of Mallorca. We had some time in Barcelona between train and flight so we taxied to La Paciencia, a restaurant Kerri & Steve had recommended. We ordered the pulpo in red sauce, that's octopus for non-Spanish speakers. It was delicious! …

          Bumming around Palma

Spent a day wandering around Palma... The city is quite large, and so I stuck mostly to the old areas of 'tourist' interest. There are churches, a cathedral, plazas and museums all over the place, but being there on a Sunday meant that I was limited in what I could see and do. Many thinks remain lose forgave reduced hours on Sundays, something that seems to be less common in North America but still prevalent in many other places. Being that I prefer architecture over spending ...

... up touring over 250m of elevation climbing the reverse route from the mountain climbing day I missed a few days previous. Stunning views, more interesting switchbacks and road maneuvering, a nice way to end rides. Stayed at the hotel in Palma Nova for the afternoon, taking advantage of the pool and a last dinner with the WCCC folks before they headed out early the next morning and I headed to Palma for my day in the 'big ...

... and I am happy I persevered through instead of sliding into the sag wagon. It was a small reminder for me that sometimes, even on vacation, you have to get ok with what and where you are, and sometimes that takes more effort than expected... But in the end it's worth it. It's also good to remember now and again what it feels like to really empty the tank! And now to share some of the photos that I did manage to sneak in along the ...
