    Holy moly what a day! I am writing this on the train ride back to our hotel in La Brigue, after a long (26-28km, climbed about 3000 feet) hike today with steep, steep uphill, and unrelenting downhill switchbacks all day. Our feet are aching like you wouldn't believe. Not sure how we will walk tomorrow. [John: Perhaps the toughest obstacles were the bugs (which are constantly bouncing off you) and the heat/humidity (34C+ and hazy). Worst at ...

    ... just over 600, but 75%of that consists of people with second homes here. Very old town, cobblestone, narrow alleyways, dating back to the 1600's - it is a really, really pretty place. People who live here permanently work at the local hospital, or at the local seniors care home, or a home for the disabled - large facilities apparently.     ... music (including my FAVORITE - "Wherever You Will Go" - the Calling), and watched the hordes of people streaming past.
    One of the things I observed sitting & drinking "spumante Piemontese" was the amount of families still out with young children so late - around 11pm. And for the most part, they were happy kids. I can't imagine being in an outdoor area with lots of people, bars, and live music with young children ...
