    MONDAY: We woke to a massive thunderstorm in Florence, with the lightening even very noticeable in our room! Actually it felt like a welcome relief and certainly wasn't cold outside. Not so great in that we had all our bags and cases to navigate across the road to the train station; so out with the umbrellas and after a quick cuppa, by 9am we were hitting the pavement in the downpour.

    Thank you for all your comments about the blog but we haven't quite finished yet! Still about 24 hours before we'll be on our doorsteps, a whole city still to explore and at least one more blog post!     Been very busy last couple of days - just had time to catch up and I am a few days behind.     ... never seen anything like it before, and the place is huge. You can literally wander round the place for hours. After our cemetery walk we had lunch in a cafe (only ice cream for me) and then caught a tram across the other side of town to the canal district. That was a real disappointment, nothing like what we were expecting and definitely nothing to get excited about. After that it was back to the apartment to get ourselves organised for our next train trip early tomorrow ...

    ... a Moet promotion so the window displays were amazing. Their chocolate deprtment sent us into raptures too, but we restrained ourselves and left without purchase. The Christmas shop was already open and we couldve spent many hundreds there.
