... to get our first taste of Venice, strolling with no particular purpose we took in the many canals, lanes and deadends that is Venice Island and caught some opportune sights like the awesome sunset casting its last rays of light across the grand canal onto the Basilica di Maria Santa della Salute from the Academia Bridge. Through our wandering we had ended up right beside Venice’s main attraction which is Piazza San Marco and its ...

Halfway along, we even spied the super-yacht that we had seen several times in port in Croatia a week earlier. Not a bad way to travel, we decided. By half twelve we met at the dock to board our boat tour of the Grand Canal. Making our way through the ...

... walking round in circles. After an hour the sun was getting the best of us so we started to ask locals for directions. They told us the quickest way was to get the ferry which was located where we first started .

When we arrived at the ferry port we managed to squeeze on the next ferry. The journey took 45mins to get San Marco square.

Once we were at San Marco we knew we were pretty close so I turned on my 3G just so we can find the hotel ...
