Oh happy day! Tired after an early start at the Doges place I stumbled across what I thought was the equivalent of a patisserie/bakery but found they served coffee too and... I just spent three days in Venice. Venice has canals everywhere. There are no cars so if you want to go anywhere you need to walk or get a boat. Even the police and ambulance use boats.
