We wandered back along the ghats and then up into the market and along lively narrow streets with small businesses open on both sides. Back to the hotel for a delicious meal of special mixed veg and paneer masala, and then off to ...

The Haifa is located right near Assi Ghat, pretty good , but a long walk to the main shopping area. We hit the" centre of town" , turn right and then left down and ally way, and then up some stairs the the shop, shoes off, sit on the mat and get a lesson in what Kashmir, silk ...

... in coloured cloths and decorations down towards the Manikarnika Ghat where these take place. It's a surreal sight to witness but what's even more worrying is that after spending a day in Varansi, it became too 'normal' to see a dead body pass you in the street. No women are allowed to attend the cremation, men only, but it also seems that there is no real place or time for everyone to grieve. Maybe that's a good thing and maybe not, life goes on I guess. Lunch was at a ...
