    ... and it represents its Northern point,the Patagonia we are all familiar with from documentary TV is further South in El Calafate and Ushuaia.     ... as I don't trek (kicking myself now I didn't go up by chairlift) but Dan will add photos and video.

    The town itself is very alpine in feel, displaying Argentina's European connection. Very pleasant it is too overlooking the lake and mountains.

    We are here until Sat 1 March for a breather. Even found a supermarket and Dan has excelled at producing salad and spag bol. I excelled at standing around looking useless until it came to eating it.

    ... report that she had found a place about 30 minutes outside of town and arranged a bus to get us out there. I laughed at Rachael when she said that maybe we would be staying in chalets up in the mountains; she started laughing when we pulled into exactly that. We actually stayed at bunk houses rather than the chalets but it was still an upgrade from camping.     ... accommodation = more moola for crazy things like trekking, mountain bike riding, white river rafting, a good meal in a restaurant oh and of course, the beer budget. We met some South African peeps in Puerto Varas and they were heading the same way as us, arriving in Bariloche a day later and staying at the hostel next door to ours.
