Pescara (west coast of Italy)

Six hour train from Venice to Pescara. Nice ride along coast but this is a beach town with not much open in October. In addition, when we questioned the hotel clerk about sightseeing he immediately replied that most of the town was bombed in World War II and not rebuilt. Only stayed one night on the way to Naples and the highlight was a great meal!

... we arrived in time for the evening promenade. What seemed like the entire population walking around the main streets and piazzas, enjoying each other’s company. Boys arm in arm with other boys, girls the same, or on the steps of the church and the town hall. Old men in little knots discussing politics with an alarming amount of arm waving. Old ladies in black sitting on park benches chatting/gossiping? And ...

... realized that there was 2 seperate bus lines and after wondering around for another 5-10 minutes, I found out it was outside, above the terminal, and off to the side. It was a miracle I made it on this bus. The lady at the ticket counter told me gate 11, but gate 10 had my destation on it so I waited there. However, 15 minutes later I saw my bus sitting at gate 9. I ran over and was so happy and relieved to finally have found my bus. Even after the bus almost hit a ...

A Sea Change- Pescara

Saturday 28th... Not much to say... Anything is expenentially boring when directly compared with Rome. It is the last day of Febuary and I feel like my two month trip needs to end right on the 1st of March. Which is when we are flying out, tomorrow. I felt like a chapter of my trip was over when Carrie left. I am sad to report that I just want to get back to Luxembourg so that I can relax for a couple days and am therefore unable to enjoy ...

Ahhh Pescara!!!

... safe and sound last night at our holiday campground, tired, hungry, and worn out but thankful to be here, and aware that as we reach our breaking points (we were also feeling the pull of finances being low) we remember that He is so full of grace. That if He wanted us to be here, He will take care of us all along the way!!! So we will explore Rome later on today and should have that update up soon!!! Love to you all, especially our families and friends!!!

... suburban homes and such. My great great grandfather Armidore D'Amato lived and farmed here. Several family members still live in Badia. Sunday morning, my cousin Carmine took me to an ancient montestary built into the side of the mountain in the National Park of Majella in Badia. His friend, Stefano, is the caretaker who opens the place on Sundays. Sunday, mid-day, I hooked up with my great grandfather's side of the family, checked out some family sights, and had a super lunch.
