... exited and walked about 2 blocks to our hotel. Kamal and I agreed this hotel was the most convenient and best amenity laden place we booked. We have spectacular views, interconnected rooms, and a Starbucks on the first floor. The only issue was that I got into a verbal spat with a nut job who accused me of cutting in line. Two canadians (who had just spent the previous months backpacking around east africa), a french guy, and an american from buffalo studying in antwerp. Train ride in was pretty interesting; windmills dot horizon, land is completely and totally flat, modern skyscrapers in cities like rotterdam and the hague are visible on the horizon. Fields stretch as far as the eye can see, ...

... 16th of October we cross into The Netherlands, stopping at Mira’s parents, who are waiting for us with the Dutch flag. It was here where our overland journey began in August 2009. Soon after it is time to visit my parents again, whom I have not seen over 3 years by now. A rainbow is greeting me in Oirschot when I park at my parents’ home. A good omen I feel. Finally a real hug again. That evening I feel loved as my best friend Miranda organized ...
