The commission itself was made by the rather eccentric Mrs. Truus Schröder-Schräder, with the challenging brief of creating a house without walls. The finished product was Rietveld's attempt to create just that for her and in a way, you'll see that ...

... I never thought I'd feel that way (because it intimidated me so much and looks so precarious) but I do. With someone who has good balance, strong legs and plenty of experience/confidence, it's so much fun. Riding with Nina didn't feel scary at all (okay, except for the first 15 seconds of "Am I going to be able to do this?")

... SideSideSidebar-- Utrecht city center is BEAUTIFUL. I felt like I was in a ******n fairytale. The scale is perfect, the city is alive, the canals and church and shops are just breathtaking. Syd, Holly, Brad, Hank, Adam and I drank liters of wine on the canal at this sweet pizza restaurant. We watched boats go by and watched the light move over the water and I know we all felt like we needed to stop time and keep the moment forever.

It has bells that are still played on special occasions, but require 20-25 people to play the 14 bells! Next we headed off to try and find ...

... with an aerial ring and a ball. Obviously i trained the ball part not the aerial part...I didn't have an aerial ring to just casually use! I wish though!

Once I was stretched and utterly exhausted, I went and grabbed my bag and made my way to the train station for the second train of the day.

          To Utrecht.

Not far out of Rotterdam (you can actually see one from the other), but far enough that I now had someone circusy to stay with.
